Rebecca's Rosaries has been in business since 2004.  Although it actually began in
in                              2002 with the death of my mother.    My mother, a devout atheist, had a love for the
the                            Rosary all her life.  I remember she used to give them as gifts especially as souvenirs

souvenirs
after a vacation.  She  brought back rosaries from all her trips to Mexico, and even from
Peru.  As her fight against adrenal cancer became more difficult, she renewed her devotion to our Blessed
Mother.  When she lost her battle to cancer, I went searching for the perfect rosary to bury her with.  To my
surprise, all of the rosaries I found in Catholic gift shops were almost all the same.   I did finally find a very
nice pink rosary, which I may one day recreate and make available on this site, however I was disappointed
in the selection that I found locally.   In the year that followed, my husband needed to attend three funeral
rosaries for colleagues.   There were no suitable rosaries for him to take with the exception of one "baby
boy" rosary with tiny beads that were too small for his hands  That's when I knew I needed to get him his own
rosary.  I searched the Internet and, again, I could not find exactly what I was looking for, and having a knack
for crafts opted to make him one.

I went to a local craft store and bought inexpensive glass beads and some base metal wire pins.  My first
attempt at a wire rosary was a miserable failure.  Although I continued to try to wire rosaries, I soon
discovered strung rosaries.  Strung rosaries are made more quickly, they are safer because they are
stronger, and are very beautiful.  I had little intention of selling my rosaries, however when I showed my first
strung rosary to a friend of mine, she bought it immediately.  I was amazed that anyone would want it, much
less pay me for it.  One week later, I had a request to make a rosary using the same beads in a different
color for another friend.  An updated version of that design is on the web site listed as “Fishers of Men”.
Word got around and my creations were called “Rebecca’s Rosaries” the name stuck and I continued to sell
my rosaries primarily via word of mouth.  I went on-line in 2004, and have been selling rosaries non-stop
since then; although it took another year before I finally made my husband one of his own.

I would not consider myself a "Cradle Catholic" even though I was baptized in the Church as a baby.  My
parents were atheists and the reason for my baptism was probably more cultural than devotional.   Since I do
have Catholic Grandparents and relatives, I was familiar and comfortable with Catholicism.  It wasn't until I
was in college and became a history major that I really learned about His Church.  After studying Martin
Luther and the Protestant Revolution, I realized exactly what the schism was about.  I had always believed
the popular notion that Martin Luther was "protesting" corruption in the Church.  It wasn't until I actually read
his works that I realized his main agitation was his lack of belief in his own salvation.  After Luther I read
Calvin and Erasmus.  I then went back and began to read the Church fathers and after putting it all together
came up with the conclusion that in order to truly follow Christ, one must be Catholic.*  This was an easy
opinion for me to hold since I had no faith at the time, and didn't consider myself to be a Christian.
Therefore, it had no impact on my life.  I realize now that the Holy Spirit was working in me and those seeds
were planted on fertile ground.

In 1997 I had a major conversion.  The birth of my daughter was truly a miracle, and it was the first time I had
ever turned to God.  For the first time in my life, I understood what it was to have faith.  Since the Holy Spirit
had already shown me the truth of His Church, it was easy for me to baptize our daughter in the Catholic
Church, and to embrace the Church.  I now pray the rosary, not just admire the beads.  My husband's
conversion to Catholicism came soon after, and we have been active members of Christ the King Parish in
Mesa, AZ for over a decade.

Because my first rosary to my husband was a special gift, I wanted to be sure that the crucifix and center
would not tarnish beyond recovery.  I thought it would be a gift for him to keep and use for the rest of his life.
I keep that thought in mind with every rosary I make.  I only use sterling silver or bronze metals, semi-
precious stones and gems, along with glass beads.  None of my rosaries are made with plastic or base
metal.  All of my rosaries are heirloom quality and will last a lifetime.  When you buy a gift from Rebecca’s
Rosaries for yourself or a loved one, you know that your rosary will be cherished by generations to come.
I believe we are all individuals in God’s eyes, and I strive to create unique rosaries that reflect different
personalities.  I believe that if everyone had a rosary that reflected their unique interests and tastes, that
rosary will become a daily accessory.  Therefore, I hope that my rosaries inspire people to pray the rosary
more often and to grow closer to Jesus through Mary.
